https://menla.org/retreat/opening-inward-exploring-the-enneagram-and-holotropic-breathwork
This workshop will explore how Holotropic Breathwork® and the Enneagram can facilitate
healing, our desire for transcendence, wholeness and connection to our Divine Nature.
You are invited to join us to experience the remarkable healing potential and therapeutic benefits of Holotropic Breathwork®, a powerful breathwork practice that allows for self-exploration, transformation and healing. With eyes closed and lying on a mat, you will use your own breath and the music in the room to enter an expanded state of consciousness. This state activates the natural inner healing potential of the breather, or “inner healer”, which guides the experience.
Holotropic Breathwork is a tool for bringing unconscious material into conscious awareness. It can serve as a portal into the unconscious, allowing participants to access, process, and release unprocessed memories, trauma, and repressed emotions. For centuries, and across many cultures, expanded states of consciousness have been used as a tool for transformation and healing. The therapeutic benefits of Holotropic Breathwork® can include release and healing of trauma and grief, improving anxiety and depression, supporting recovery from addiction, higher insights of spiritual understanding, increased connection to self and others, and opening to compassion and love.
The Enneagram
Holotropic Breathwork is a practice which helps us to connect more deeply with the truth of who we are, our divine self. When we return to ordinary states of consciousness, however, we may wonder how to integrate this core truth into the fabric of our daily life – and into our own particular ego structure.
The Enneagram is an ancient teaching and a powerful tool for transformation. Understanding our Enneagram personality type can help unlock a greater understanding into the depth of who we are beyond our patterns of behavior. The Enneagram tradition exists to remind us of our unconscious patterns of behavior that keep us asleep to the truth of who we are. Weaving these two modalities together can be a powerful way to uncover, and live from, our divine/true self.
According to the Enneagram system, there are nine facets of the human personality, and no one person will fit into only one type. However, if you consider your patterns of behavior throughout your life, you will likely be able to identify a dominant one. From a spiritual perspective, our primary type is the way our soul seeks to reconnect to the Divine, or our True Nature.
Learning the Enneagram can help us find our way back to a sense of connection, alignment and resonance with our
True Nature, especially once we’ve reawakened to it through the modality of breathwork. This is not a primarily
cognitive process; in this retreat, our journey integrating the Enneagram and Holotropic Breathwork will be
deepened through experiential practices.
In this immersive retreat, our journey integrating the Enneagram and Holotropic Breathwork
will be deepened through experiential practices and include:
- An introductory talk on Holotropic Breathwork and Exploring the Enneagram
- Four Holotropic Breathwork® sessions (two as a breather and two as a sitter)
- Sound healing Session
- Explore the link between the Enneagram and the Holotropic Breathwork lineage
- Learn about Enneagram theory, focusing on the three triads and the
relationship between ego and Essence
- Participate in group demonstrations and small group work to delve deeper into your Holotropic Breathwork inner work through the lens of the Enneagram
- Embodied exercises that connect us to our somatic experience of our Enneagram type
